Artists often struggles with how to produce their own work, especially contemporary artist, as the artist and what she produces is often indistinguishable. Kitchen tables, bedrooms and beds sometimes serves as places for production, as space continuous to be a privilege. Needless to say, the private room. So, the question of where to produce is then also the question of how to live, as life and work takes place in the same space. Courage, mon amie is a performance that speaks about the history of the private room, from Carthusians monastery, Hanes Mayers co-op room, to contemporary micro- flats. The performance weaves together 15 interviews the artist made with artists and architects in Paris at Cité des Arts about their live-and-work spaces, Kihlströms own writing and fragments of the bibliography she compiled.
